Customizing Health Care
We’ve entered into the culture of mass customization. Our favorite brands are offered as individualized products. For example, there are popular coffee franchises which all carry basically the same bunch of ingredients (that’s the “mass” part), but you can ask your barista to put them together in a way that is unique to your taste (the “customization” part). Pharmasave can do the same thing with your medication.
If you’ve wandered past our Summerland and Downtown Penticton locations you might have noticed signs and graphics calling attention to our Medication Compounding services. The term “compounding” sounds like we’re just mashing your medications together but it does get a little more technical than that. Most medications are compounds, we simply have the ability to tailor it to your individual needs.
Having our own compounding lab allows us to help you when:
- You take a prescription in a strength which is not mass produced
- A manufacturer has discontinued a medication which works well for you
- You are prescribed bio-identical hormone replacement therapy
- You or your child needs a medication in a preferred dosage form (eg: syrup, tablets, capsules, creams, ointments, sprays) or flavour
- Your pet needs a medication flavoured (eg: beef) in order to get him/her to take it
- Your doctor suggests a medication combination which can be compounded into one dosage form
