Way back in the 20th Century, Mercurochrome was a popular antiseptic.  Many older persons will remember their mothers’ dabbing a bit of this red liquid on their skin after a minor abrasion or cut.  This product actually contained mercury and was removed from the North American market as “not generally recognized as safe and effective”. It left a red stain that took weeks to disappear.

In most of human history, people felt that bathing was dangerous to their health.

Perfumes were often used in the 17th, 18th and even to most of the 19th century to mask body odours.  But in 1888, the first antiperspirant was introduced.  It was called Mum.  In 1912, Odo-Ro-No was market mostly to women and in 1935, Top Flite was the first deodorant targeted at men.  Arrid cream came out in the 40s and today we can choose from hundreds of products to suppress or mask body odour.

Reduce sugar consumption and you’ll lose weight.  Try this.  It’s easy to keep track of your daily sugar consumption using the nutrition labels on food containers.  Add up what you consume in a typical day then cut that in half.  You’ll lose about 16 pounds in one year.  Increase your daily exercise and you’ll lose it more quickly.

With all the new generic drugs coming on the market and the drug shortages of certain products, you may the contents of your prescription refill may look different than before.  Pharmacists will inform you when this occurs and but don’t be afraid to ask questions if you do notice differences in the contents of your refill.
